Locks and magnets for glass doors: what works
Magnetic latch, WC lock, key lock. What fits on glass and the limits.
Closing a glass door is a separate question: standard surface-mount locks don't work (need glass holes), mortise-cut isn't possible, and magnetic latches need precise geometry.
01Types of closure
1. Magnetic latch. Holds the door closed but doesn't lock. Bathroom, study, dressing room. From 4 200 ₽.
2. WC lock with indicator. Twist lock with "occupied / free" indicator outside. Emergency slot to open from outside. From 8 400 ₽.
3. Key lock. Full locking, study/storeroom. WK1 class (vandal-proof, not burglar-proof). From 12 600 ₽.
4. Electromagnetic (access control). 60–180 kg holding force, card or biometric. From 18 000 ₽ + controller from 12 000 ₽.
02Doesn't fit on glass
- Standard surface-mount mortise locks
- Heavy multi-bolt locks
- Chain locks
- Surface-mount biometric pads
| Room | Pick | 2026 price |
|---|---|---|
| Bathroom | Magnet + WC lock | from 12 600 ₽ |
| Bedroom | Magnet | from 4 200 ₽ |
| Study (privacy) | Key lock | from 12 600 ₽ |
| Server room | Key lock + alarm | from 14 000 ₽ |
| Office with access | Electromagnet + controller | from 30 000 ₽ |
Most common mistake — order a door without a lock, realize a year later the bathroom needs an indicator. Door replacement = full re-temper, full price. Decide on locking at order time.
