Black T-profile partitions: a 2026 trend in SPb offices
Factory-style glazing is back. Where the trend came from, which profile to pick, what separates a good install from a failure.
By 2026 this style is mass-market: black T-profile partitions divide space without visually filling it. Where the trend comes from and how to do it right.
01Origin
Prototype — early-1900s European factory glazing (Crittall windows, UK). Thin steel profiles dividing glass into a grid. Transposed into a modern office — loft aesthetic without bare-brick crudeness.
02Profile types
| Section | Use | 2026 price |
|---|---|---|
| T-18 mm matte | offices up to 2.5 m | from 12 400 ₽/m² |
| T-25 mm matte | office up to 3 m | from 15 200 ₽/m² |
| T-40 mm loft | lofts 3+ m | from 19 800 ₽/m² |
| Double T (double glazing) | meeting rooms | from 24 600 ₽/m² |
03Grid pattern
Factory standard — 600×600 or 800×800 mm grid. The 2026 update — horizontal-only (transoms every 800 mm, no verticals). Less vintage, more minimalist.
04Real SPb cases
Ligovsky office, 50 m² meeting room: 8×2.7 m partition with door, T-25 matte black, 800×800 grid, 10 mm tempered Optiwhite, pivot door with floor closer. Total: 412 000 ₽.
Vasilyevsky loft, 24 m² master bedroom: 6×3.5 m sliding-door partition, T-40 matte black, horizontal grid only, 10 mm tempered with light graphite tint. Total: 528 000 ₽.
Most common mistake: mixing black T-profile with modern minimalism (polished concrete + white walls + black furniture legs). Becomes visual salad. T-profile works with loft or premium-industrial context, not "anything goes."
