Curved showers: a 2026 guide to bent glass
Minimum radius, bending tech, prices, and when a curved shower is actually needed. With real St. Petersburg cases.
A curved shower looks like "modern architecture" in photos, but behind that effect is specific engineering and 30–60% over the cost of a standard enclosure. When it's worth it, when it's Instagram overspend.
01Bending tech
Glass is heated to 620–650 °C on a special furnace and slumps into shape on a heat-resistant mould. Then tempered with rapid cooling. Minimum radius for 8 mm is R350, for 10 mm — R500. Tighter isn't possible: glass either breaks during bending or loses optical clarity.
02Where radius actually matters
- 80×80 corner without a sharp angle — R350 covers it in one panel, no vertical seam
- Old-stock erker (bay) — where the wall is already curved
- Walk-in opposite a window — curved glass reads as a "wave"
- Penthouses and premium projects — radius signals tier
032026 SPb prices
| Config | Radius | 2026 price |
|---|---|---|
| R350 corner, 8 mm | standard | from 78 000 ₽ |
| R500 walk-in arc, 10 mm | up to 1.6 m | from 108 000 ₽ |
| S-curved screen | double bend | from 148 000 ₽ |
| Full circle (capsule) | R600+ | from 280 000 ₽ |
Copying Pinterest Californian villas into a Petersburg 60 m² flat rarely works: curved glass needs space to read as a "curve."
Curved glass adds 2 weeks vs straight production. Replacement of broken curved panel: 60–80% of original price, 3 weeks lead time.
