Glass railings for private-house terraces
Open terrace, rain, snow, UV, seasonal swings. What to pick for a long life without redos.
A countryside terrace near St. Petersburg goes through −28 °C winters, +30 °C summers, 130 freeze-thaw cycles per year, 380–420 kWh/m² of UV, sometimes road salt in spring. Standard "balcony railing" fails in 5–7 years here. Terraces need marine-grade specs.
01What's different from a balcony
Laminated only. No tempered without PVB. PVB 1.52 mm minimum.
A4 stainless (AISI 316) only. A2 corrodes in 4–6 years in salty humidity. A4 with molybdenum holds 25+ years.
U-channel sealing with −40 °C silicone. Sanitary silicone cracks in two winters.
