01How aging is done
A controlled chemical reagent etches the silver coating on the back. Spots and streaks form where it eats through. Black protective coating below gives the dark backing for the effect.

Antique works either in: a loft with vintage furniture, OR as a contrast accent in modernism (one antique mirror over a clean-lined sofa). Out of context = "looks like a dirty mirror."
Don't put antique in functional spots (bathroom, dressing) — facial reflection "jumps" through patches. Decor only.
